SASA's Roadmap In The 20 Billion-Dollar Investment Announced
The roadmap for SASA Polyester's 20 billion-dollar Adana Yumurtalık Petrochemical Facilities investment project has been announced. According to the statement made by SASA, the company, which has recently completed the procurement of a significant part of the land as part of the Private Industrial Zone in Yumurtalık, plans to lay the foundation in the early second half of this year, upon the urgent expropriation decision expected in the last step for the remaining part. The facility construction roadmap was also clarified in the project, in which the investment amount previously decided as 11,8 billion dollars was increased to 20 billion dollars. According to the information provided by İbrahim Erdemoğlu, Erdemoğlu Holding Chairman of the Board of Directors, the 2nd-phase production facilities of aromatic and paraxylene with a capacity of 2 million tons and of MEG with a capacity of 700 thousand tons, polyethylene production facility with a capacity of 1 million tons, and PVC production facility with a capacity of 600 thousand tons are planned, by completing the integration with the PDH and polypropylene production facility with a capacity of 1 million tons, and paraxylene and aromatic production facility with a capacity of 2 million tons, and port construction in the 1st phase between 2023 and 2026; PDH and polypropylene production facilities with a capacity of 1 million tons, SAP with a capacity of 200 thousand tons, 2-EH with a capacity of 100 thousand tons, ACN with a capacity of 300 thousand tons, PTA with a capacity of 1,6 million tons, and MEG with a capacity of 700 thousand tons in the 2nd phase between 2025 and 2028; and the refinery facility with a capacity of 12 million tons in the 3rd phase between 2027-2032. SASA signed a license, technical service, and guaranty agreement with Honeywell UOP regarding the establishment of a propylene production facility in the Yumurtalık investment area with an investment amount of 1,5 billion dollars. Turkey's imports will also be significantly reduced with the propylene production facility that has an annual capacity of 1 million tons and that is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026 and contribute to the turnover by 1,2 billion dollars. With the production of 1 million tons of propylene, which is not produced in the textile country Turkey, and is imported approximately 2,5 million tons annually, 40 percent of the need will be met from national resources.
